Civic Atlas is a work of historical research, provided for information and study.

Historical records

It is compiled with care from the sources named in each record, but historical records are incomplete and sometimes contradictory. Readings, dates, spellings, identifications of men and the positions of sites can be wrong. Where the records do not state a point plainly, the app says so and holds it back from the counts. Before relying on any record, consult the original at its holder, named in the record and on the sources page.

Not advice or proof

Nothing in Civic Atlas is legal, genealogical, title, property or financial advice, or proof of descent, membership, lineage or ownership.

Maps

Map positions are approximate, drawn from the street corners and lots named in the records and set on modern streets. The 1800 shoreline is approximate.

Independence

Civic Atlas is an independent historical publication of Market Mojo LLC, drawn from the book series by Thomas M. Saharsky. It is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by any Grand Lodge, lodge, chapter or other Masonic body; by the National Archives and Records Administration, the Library of Congress, the National Park Service, the Naval History and Heritage Command or any other government agency; or by any archive, library, church or society named in it. Masonic names, titles and emblems belong to their owners and are used only to describe history. Names of institutions are used only to credit their collections.

Members' contributions

Facts added by members are their own until an editor has checked them against the cited source, and are marked as contributions.

Links to Google Maps, Chronicling America and other services lead to sites run by others, which Market Mojo LLC does not control.
